What does a candidate for a category B licence sign about their own fitness to drive?

  1. A certificate signed by a doctor in every case
  2. A certificate of fitness issued by the Administration of Medical Expertise after an examination
  3. Nothing; the examination centre checks fitness
  4. A declaration on their word of honour about physical and mental fitness and eyesight

The answer

D — A declaration on their word of honour about physical and mental fitness and eyesight

Why

A candidate for AM, A1, A2, A, B, B+E or G signs a declaration on their word of honour that, to their knowledge, they do not suffer from the defects or conditions listed for group 1, in two parts: general physical and mental fitness, and eyesight (art. 41, § 1).

Why not

  • A A doctor is involved only when the candidate cannot sign a part of the declaration.
  • B That route is for the heavy categories, not for an ordinary category B candidate.
  • C The centre does not assess fitness; the declaration is the candidate's own.
