Why this topic matters

Some questions on the real exam cover serious offences, and many of them come from this topic. A wrong answer on one of those costs five points instead of one, and two such mistakes mean an automatic fail, whatever your other answers score. Worth getting right.

Heavy fault · 5 points

You are one of the few drivers allowed into a pedestrian zone (marked F103/F105) to make a permitted delivery. How must you drive?

  1. At the posted speed limit for the surrounding streets
  2. At walking pace, giving way to pedestrians and stopping if necessary
  3. As fast as gaps in the pedestrian flow allow
  4. At walking pace only where pedestrians are actually present

The answer

B — At walking pace, giving way to pedestrians and stopping if necessary

Why

Art. 22sexies, 2° requires any driver permitted into a pedestrian zone to drive at walking pace throughout, give way to pedestrians, and stop when necessary — not merely when pedestrians happen to be nearby.

Why not

  • A A pedestrian zone has no separate posted limit for admitted vehicles — the walking-pace duty applies instead of an ordinary speed limit.
  • C Gaps in pedestrian flow do not raise the permitted pace; walking pace applies throughout the zone, not just where pedestrians are visible.
  • D The duty is not conditional on a pedestrian being visible at that moment — it applies for as long as the vehicle is in the zone.

Every lesson in this topic is a short read built around the pictures the real questions use, and every practice question ends the same way as the one above: why the right answer is right, and why each other option is wrong. A mock exam draws on all of it, scored exactly like the real thing — 50 questions, 15 seconds each, five points for a heavy fault — and your readiness figure tells you honestly when this topic is done.
